Smash TV - Skinemax

So we missed Mix Monday yesterday, but since we’re all caught up and this is the last one, we guess it doesn’t really matter if it’s a day late.

Hard to believe the great response this has gotten in the past six months. What started as a portfolio piece for audio and video editing work turned into an obsession, Skinemax being the end result.

Some of our favorite throwback tracks from the past couple of years are in this one, paired with timely cuts of some of the excellent 80s and early 90s b-movies that fostered boundless imaginations in many children of the era. A veritable nostalgia nuke.

So what’s next for Smash TV? We’re happy to say we have two more full length VJ projects in the works. The audio for the next two mixes is all done and the footage for each should be cut up within the next couple weeks. After that, it’s just the intense process of reassembling the footage into a whole new animal. A modern day Frankenstein’s monster.

We’ve got some exciting new work in store for you, as these next two will deal with entirely new themes. We want to keep branching out and trying different things.

“Gunslinger” will focus around the Old West, featuring spaghetti westerns galore, along with newer and more adventurous takes on the genre. The celebration of the anti-hero, the vigilante, the ballad of “The Man With No Name”.

“Paid Programming” aims to probe even deeper into the psyche of 80s children, culled entirely from 40 hours of old VHS footage of 80s commercials. Prepare to lapse into a nostalgia coma.

Both of these are going to blow your minds. Skinemax was just Smash TV’s first transmission, we’re really excited about the new stuff and we think you will be too. Thanks so much for supporting us in what we do and giving us an audience to share our weirdo passions with, it really means the world to us.
