fromquirkstoquasars asked: Could you give us any details about projects you guys are currently working on? Been looking forward to something ever since Skinemax. Thanks a bunch!
Glad you asked, we’re each working on new full length hour long videos and we’re super excited about them!
Gunslinger will be themed around the Old West, an homage to the “Man With No Name”. It was a challenge capturing this atmosphere through music, but expect the obligatory Ennio Morricone along with a wide range of musicians inspired by Westerns, including John Barry, Monte Cazazza, Flying Lotus, Luke Vibert, and many more.
We’ll keep the movies a secret for now, but things will kick off with the Dollars Trilogy and work up to more modern takes on the genre. Expect lots of anti-heroes, dastardly villains, damsels in distress, horse chases, and gun fights galore.
It’s going to be really awesome and unique, expect something different than you’ve ever seen before.
Paid Programming will be the most nostalgic thing you’ve ever seen if you were a kid in the 80s. Culled from over 40 hours of 80’s commercials pulled from warped VHS tapes. Endless beach parties, Saturday morning cartoons, sexy babes, sleek cars, toys you forgot existed, station idents, early computer animation, all your favorite sugary cereal mascots, and so much more. An ode to the hyper consumerism and sleek veneer of a simpler time.
The music will match the warped and weirdly nostalgic nature of the video, like finding your favorite cassette from childhood after it’s been baking in the sun for 25 years. VHS Head, Hype Williams, LA Vampires, and Boards Of Canada are just a few of the artists you can expect to hear.
It’s going to be a nostalgiapocalypse for anyone born between 1975 and 1985. Your favorite everything you totally forgot existed.
The audio for both of these has been done for a while now, the footage is chopped up and tagged, and we just started assembling the footage this month. We’ve got a ton of hard work ahead of us, but we promise it will be worth the wait. You’ll have two brand new Smash TV epics in your hot little hands before you know it.
Skinemax was just the beginning, Smash TV has big things in store. Stay tuned.
