Anonymous asked: I'm just getting into video editing and am a huge fan of your Skinemax film. I've been working with Adobe Premiere Pro to do my editing but haven't messed with any kind of DVD capture editing. How did you guys makes sure all your aspect ratio was correct on all those old videos and what kind of editing software did you use to put it all together? I have the damndest time just editing a video and making sure its aspect ratio fits correctly in youtube...which it usually doesn't.
First of all, thanks for the kind words!
We use Premiere Pro and Final Cut to edit, we each have our personal preference. Pretty much all major films are in 16:9 so it wasn’t too hard to get the aspect ratios to match up in Skinemax. A trick you can use is to zoom into the frame until everything lines up nice though.
A bigger problem for us has been frame rates, there’s been an unholy amount of time spent removing duplicate frames when the frame rates jump all over the place across all the different videos. It takes about twice as long to do everything as it should.
We’re kind of learning a lot of this stuff as we go, so we’re certainly not experts, just patient and ambitious I guess.
Thanks for being a fan and good luck with your own videos!
